Cute boots

The torrential rain we had this week was welcome, but it made big puddles, if only for a day.
On Wednesday, the Cathryn Spees Jr. Garden Club came out for a program and many of the ladies in this club wore their rain boots. They were so cute I had to take pictures.
These are the classic wellies. Made me look around for the queen.

A pair of fabulous boots.
Another customer had these boots with an English Garden theme. She admitted she had 6 different pairs of cute rain boots.

The Blue Moon employees all have boots of some kind - gardening in the winter and early spring necessitates boots.
Below are Deb's boots. She is totally into skulls, but likes the more feminine pink look.

Mary's boots; she wasn't wearing them as she took the photo.

Luckily there are several stores carrying cute rain boots these days. Sharon hasn't found one yet, she still wears comfortable, lace-up boots on rainy days.

Maples in bloom

I love maples. They are beautiful any time of year but I particularly like their look in spring.
Delicate flower clusters hang from the tips of the branches as fresh new leaves appear. Above is our Waterfall Japanese maple that has been growing in front of the gift shop for over 15 years.
A Bloodgood Japanese maple we have for sale. The leaves will become more burgundy as the season progresses then turn bright orange in the fall.
It's not just the Japanese maples blooming now. Here is a photo of the flowers on our Shantung maple. Both the leaves and the blooms on this tree are larger than those of most Japanese maples. Shantung can stand the sun here in Texas, whereas the Japanese maples need shade.

Spring flowers

We have been busy, busy getting the nursery set up again. After the past few months of minimal plants, we have expanded and stocked up again. We just love this time of year!

Here are my favorite flowers that we have now.

These Gerbera daisies just look like spring.

We were intrigued by the names of these varieties so we ordered them.
Above is Sportscar Red. Check out my blog for more thoughts on Red

These are Jaguar Bright Orange. Looks like a sportscar color doesn't it?

AQfter all the drab colors of winter, we were ready for some brilliant shades.
